Oooo - this is a good one. I’m a big girl so clothing usually looks for the most part kind of ridiculous on me. I mean, I don’t look like a bag lady (I don’t think - I should check with T-Money on that one, though she’ll probably say yes regardless) but I’m not the person someone looks at when thinking of the term “fashionista”.
I have a few answers for this because of different occasions. I don’t like to wear my work clothes outside of work so I change when I get home to comfy clothes almost immediately and I have post-shower clothes in the morning as I don’t like robes but I get up early to do stuff so I need to be wearing something.
So, in an actual answer to your question because I’m really long-winded it took to this long to get here….I have three items to discuss:
- my black dress with green polka dots because it’s super fun and very me
- my recently acquired black cotton “capris” pants for around the apartment. They’re only six inches or so from my ankle so capris is a generous term
- my Sens jersey because it fits perfectly and is the perfect amount of not too hot indoors
I’ve thought long and hard about this one and I of course went blank immediately.
- things that end in “bro”
- Easy as pie; have you made pie? it’s not so easy that this phrase should be warranted
- Fresh pair of eyes; this has just always bugged me, slightly creepy
- I also loathe the word “tremendous”; it gets used waaaay too much in sports commentary
- when people say “thanks” when they have time to say “thank you”; it just bugs me
- and one more: touch base with you; this is my least favourite office-y thing and they say it here quite a bit.
Yes! And there was that guy who did that thing at that place that one time, with the other thing!
kittykittybangbang replied to your post: I just did my fun party trick on imdb, the clicking/no typing thing, and for the first time, I actually used Kevin Bacon as a step!
What is this dark art you speak of?I’ve mentioned before (though I of course can’t find a post to link to) that if I want to look an actor/show/movie up and I have my hand on the mouse and have no interest to type anything, I will just click through until I find what I’m looking for, starting with whatever is mentioned on the homepage for IMDb. Like an extended, lazy Six Degrees. The best I’ve ever done is 9 clicks, which I think is good because it’s a lot of connections to make in advance ;) and somehow I had never used Kevin Bacon before tonight, which is kind of weird.

Swiss Chalet delivery!
Oh I wish! But I don’t have much budget room for “luxuries” like that - seriously - and I spent a good deal of my July “fun budget” last weekend in Ottawa. Even though I didn’t really spend that much.
The real problem is that I only get paid once a month so I over think my spending so I don’t go crazy. But I also don’t really make that much so maybe I should over think it more than I already am.
If only gas weren’t so damn expensive….
ofpaper answered your question: Ahhh! I just had a furniture epiphany!
do tell!
Hahaha well this will get boring before it gets interesting (!) but I’m still settling all smaller pieces of furniture since moving, up to and including my desk (which isn’t very big, actually a writing desk) and I still need some shelving of some sort to accommodate books and photos. BUT I just realized that if I abandon the ‘dream’ of a bench in my front hall (which I wasn’t totally sold on) and place a large bookcase in there, room divider size, that opens up possibilities, including a reading nook/area in the living area and would look really good (I think) and still leave lots of room in the front hall.
AND I’m stealing the idea from a friend (who just moved herself and gave her blessing) of a nice wall decal in my room on the wall I can’t hang anything on (it’s secretly a wall of panelling so it only has give but is painted apartment white so you can’t tell until you try to hang something), I could move this odd peacock theme* I have into there, which makes more sense with colour schemes.
If that made any sense to you, I tip my hat.
*I just happened to buy a lamp with peacock feathers on it to go on my desk and followed that up with the chair which also has a peacock pattern to it. They’re not my favourite animal or anything, it just worked out that way and it’s really grown on me because it’s a bit unusual and combines both my loves of green and kooky.
